Summary for parents
Noctora is a sleep-sounds and ambient-visuals app designed to be safe for everyone, including children ages 3 and up. We do not require accounts, do not show advertising, do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, do not collect personally identifiable information, and do not include social features, chat, user-generated content, or external links targeted at children. The app is fully compliant with the Google Play Families Policy, Apple App Store Kids Category, Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States, and the GDPR-K in the European Union and United Kingdom.
Who we are
Noctora is operated by Daniel V (the "developer", "we", "us", "our"). For any privacy question or data request, contact danielvdeveloper@gmail.com.
Target audience
Noctora is rated for general audiences and is approved for children ages 3 and older. We treat all users as if they may be children and apply the strictest privacy protections to every user, regardless of age or region. We do not differentiate experiences based on age and do not attempt to identify whether a user is a child.
Information we collect
- No personal information. We do not collect names, email addresses (unless you choose to email us for support), phone numbers, photos, contacts, microphone audio, camera input, precise or coarse location, advertising identifiers (IDFA / AAID), device fingerprints, biometric data, or any persistent identifiers tied to a person.
- On-device only: favorites, saved scenes, volume preferences, timer settings, and Premium entitlement status are stored locally on your device and never leave it.
- Purchase validation: if you buy Premium, Apple App Store or Google Play handles the transaction. We receive only a non-personal receipt token used to unlock features. We never see your name, email, payment method, or billing address.
- Support emails (optional): if you (or a parent on behalf of a child) email us, we keep the message to respond. We do not use it for any other purpose.
No tracking, no ads, no analytics SDKs
Noctora contains no third-party advertising, no behavioral advertising, no contextual advertising, no analytics SDKs (such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Facebook SDK, AppsFlyer, Adjust, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar), no social-network SDKs, and no cross-app or cross-device tracking. We do not build profiles, do not target users, and do not share data with data brokers.
Live weather feature (Premium, optional)
The optional Live City Rain feature lets the user choose a city from a list to synchronize ambient rain sound intensity with current weather. Only the chosen city name is sent to a weather API to fetch conditions. No device location, no IP-based geolocation, and no user identifier is sent or stored. The request is anonymous and not linked to any user. This feature can be turned off at any time in Settings, and is disabled by default for users in the Kids Category.
Children's privacy (COPPA, GDPR-K, Google Play Families)
Noctora is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (including Article 8 protections for children, "GDPR-K"), the UK Age Appropriate Design Code, the Google Play Families Policy, and the Apple App Store Review Guidelines for Kids apps.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in the user's jurisdiction, up to 16 in parts of the EU).
- We do not require any registration, account, sign-in, or profile.
- We do not use any SDK that is not approved for primarily child-directed services under the Google Play self-certified Families SDK program.
- We do not display behavioral ads, interest-based ads, or any third-party ads to anyone.
- We do not include in-app purchases that are gated behind manipulative or kid-targeted prompts. The Premium upgrade is presented neutrally and requires the device's standard parental purchase controls (Ask to Buy on iOS, Family Library / purchase approval on Google Play).
- We do not include social features, chat, messaging, friend lists, leaderboards, user-generated content, photo uploads, or open web browsing.
- External links (such as to our website or support email) appear only in a dedicated, parent-oriented Settings area and, where required, behind a parental gate.
- If we ever become aware that we have inadvertently received personal information from a child, we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians may contact danielvdeveloper@gmail.com to request review, deletion, or to refuse further collection.
Parental rights and controls
Parents and guardians have the right, at any time, to:
- Review what (if any) information is associated with their child — in practice, none, because we do not collect personal data.
- Request deletion of any data by emailing danielvdeveloper@gmail.com.
- Refuse further collection or use of the child's information by uninstalling the app, which removes all local data.
- Manage and disable in-app purchases through the device's parental controls (iOS Screen Time / Ask to Buy, Google Play purchase authentication, Google Family Link).
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade any user data, ever.
- We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing partners.
- We do not use push notifications for marketing.
- We do not use cookies, web beacons, or similar tracking technologies inside the app.
- We do not transmit data to servers outside what is strictly required to deliver the feature you requested (e.g., the optional weather lookup).
Service providers
The only third parties involved are:
- Apple App Store and Google Play — for app distribution and processing optional Premium purchases. Governed by their own privacy policies.
- A public weather API — only when the user enables the optional Live City Rain feature, and only the chosen city name is sent.
Data retention
We hold no personal user data on our servers. Support emails (if you send one) are retained for up to 24 months and then deleted. App store purchase receipts are retained as required by tax and consumer-protection law.
International users
The app is available worldwide. The same privacy protections apply to all users regardless of country. Residents of the EU, UK, California, and other jurisdictions with specific privacy rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD, PIPEDA, etc.) may exercise those rights — access, correction, deletion, portability, objection — by emailing danielvdeveloper@gmail.com. Because we hold no personal data, most requests are satisfied by uninstalling the app.
Security
We follow industry-standard practices to protect the limited information we receive (such as support emails), including encryption in transit (HTTPS / TLS) and access controls. Because we do not maintain user accounts or a user database, the attack surface for personal data is minimal.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where required by law (including for child-directed services), provide direct notice and obtain renewed parental consent before applying the change to previously collected information.
